GNUTS CONGRATULATES FARMERS

-----------------------------------------------------------

The Ghana National Union of Technical Students (GNUTS) congratulates farmers and fishermen across the country on this special occasion of Farmers' Day.

The Union recognises farmers' immense effort, dedication and enthusiastic involvement in the advancement of Mother Ghana through Agriculture.

We as a nation realised rather belatedly that we ought to have been investing in agriculture, but we are now aiming at food security because of our large population.

Our youth, the ones who have gone to school and even those that have not, should go to the farm, to earn income for themselves.

Agriculture over the years keeps providing jobs for thousands of our citizens and speedily gravitating towards the attainment of food security and jobs.

With the agriculture sector proven to be the bedrock of the nation’s economy, we can only urge government to help its young people plan their future and call on the youth to explore opportunities easily accessible in the agriculture sector because 'agriculture is the future of the world'.

Can our Government promise to promote skill development, innovation and entrepreneurship among the young population? Can we as a country consider building and assembling farming equipment rather than luxurious automobile assembling plants?

The Union is glad to associate itself with the National Farmers' Day celebration and it remains our hope that the concerns of farmers would be addressed with a matter of urgency to enhance productivity and growth.

As we mark this day, the Ghana National Union Technical Students (GNUTS) joins hands with Ghanaians to say a very big ''AYEKOO'' to our dear farmers for their overwhelming contributions towards the Nation's growth.

Thank you
