Ostomy Barrier Rings
There have been quite a few breakthroughs in digestive health management and ostomy is one such surgical procedure for acute cases in which a person's digestive and urinary wastes are expelled through a hole created surgically in the abdomen. This hole is called the stoma and the diverted waste is collected in an ostomy pouch, which is a prosthetic. Ostomy is a popular treatment following bowel cancer, bladder cancer, bowel ulcers, and severe incontinence issues.
Quite a few complications arise and the most common ones are skin irritation due to ostomy leaks. In order to reduce leakage from an ostomy pouch, an ostomy barrier ring has been developed to cover any gaps between the ostomy barrier and stoma skin. Because the rings are made of a stretchable material, they can be stretched and adapted as needed.
